Furthermore, Gunnar Brune is associated with the consulting network for digitization enable2grow. As the author, of his book “Frischer! Fruchtiger! Natürlicher!” he describes the German food retail sector and the value chain of fresh fruit and vegetables. He is co-author of the books “DIE ZEIT erklärt die Wirtschaft” and “Virale Kommunikation” and has published articles on marketing and communications in different media outlets. As a marketing evangelist, he speaks at events and trainings on trends, innovations and storytelling.
Roland Gerhards ist seit Mai 2012 Geschäftsführer der ZAL GmbH und hat in dieser Zeit den Bau und die Startphase des ZAL TechCenters maßgeblich gestaltet. Gerhards ist diplomierter Luft- und Raumfahrtingenieur und hält darüber hinaus einen MBA der US-amerikanischen Purdue University. Vor seiner Tätigkeit als ZAL-Geschäftsführer war er 15 Jahre in verschiedenen Positionen bei Airbus in Hamburg und Toulouse tätig, zuletzt als Leiter der Rumpfentwicklung für die A330. Auch privat ist er der Luftfahrt eng verbunden und besitzt unter anderem eine Ausbilderlizenz für Kunstflugpiloten.
Ed Brinksma ist seit September 2020 Präsident der Erasmus University. Davor war er über zwei Jahre Präsident der Technischen Universität Hamburg. Er hat außerdem eine ordentliche Professur für Informatik (Formale Methoden eingebetteter Systeme) an der Universität Twente (UT) in den Niederlanden inne. In den Jahren 2009-2016 war Ed Rektor Magnificus der Universität Twente. Während seines Rektorats war Ed unter anderem für die Gründung des Twente Design Lab verantwortlich, einer multidisziplinären Meeting-Plattform für Studenten, Mitarbeiter und Unternehmer zur Wertschöpfung. Auf der Bildungsseite betreute er die Konzeption und Umsetzung des Twente-Bildungsmodells und führte studentenzentriertes Lernen durch projektbasierte, thematische Module als Bausteine für die UT-Studiengänge ein. Ed studierte Mathematik an der Universität Groningen (1982) und promovierte in Informatik an der UT (1988). Er war Dekan der Fakultät für Informatik an der UT (1995-1997), wissenschaftlicher Direktor des Embedded Systems Institute und Professor für Informatik an der Technischen Universität Eindhoven (2005-2008). Ed hatte auch eine Position als Adjoint Professor an der Universität Aalborg inne. Als Forscher hat Ed ausführlich über die Theorie und Anwendung formaler Methoden gearbeitet und veröffentlicht, von der Spezifikation und Analyse von Netzwerkprotokollen und -diensten bis hin zu modellbasierten Tests, Verifikationen und Leistungsanalysen kritischer Infrastrukturen und eingebetteter Systeme. Er war der (Mit-)Initiator von Konferenzen wie FORTE, QEST und TACAS.
Ed Brinksma has been President of the Erasmus University since September 2020. Before he was the President of the Technical University of Hamburg. He also holds a full professorship in Computer Science (Formal Methods of Embedded Systems) at the University of Twente (UT) in the Netherlands. In the years 2009-2016 Ed was Rector Magnificus of the University of Twente. During his rectorate, Ed was responsible, among other things, for founding the Twente Design Lab, a multidisciplinary meeting platform for students, staff and entrepreneurs to create value. On the education side, he supervised the design and implementation of the Twente educational model and introduced student-centred learning through project-based, thematic modules as building blocks for the UT courses. Michael Beetz ist Professor für Informatik an der Fakultät für Mathematik & Informatik der Universität Bremen und Leiter des Instituts für Künstliche Intelligenz (IAI). Das IAI untersucht KI-basierte Kontrollmethoden für Roboter-Agenten, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf alltäglichen Manipulationsaufgaben im menschlichen Maßstab liegt. Mit openEASE, einem webbasierten Wissensdienst zur Bereitstellung von Roboter- und Aktivitätsdaten, will Michael Beetz die Interoperabilität in der Robotik verbessern und die Barrieren für die Roboterprogrammierung verringern. Aus diesem Grund stellt die IAI-Gruppe die meisten ihrer Ergebnisse als Open-Source-Software zur Verfügung, vor allem in der ROS-Softwarebibliothek.
Michael Beetz is Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics & Computer Science at the University of Bremen and Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI). The IAI investigates KI-based control methods for robotic agents, focusing on everyday human-scale manipulation tasks. With openEASE, a web-based knowledge service for the provision of robot and activity data, Michael Beetz wants to improve the interoperability in robotics and reduce the barriers for robot programming. For this reason, the IAI group makes most of its results available as open source software, especially in the ROS software library.
Tilo Böhmann ist Mitglied im Vorstand von HITeC e.V., dem Hamburger Informatik-Technologiecentrum und leitet die Forschungsgruppe IT-Management und -Consulting am Fachbereich Informatik der Universität Hamburg. Er ist stellvertretender Leiter des Fachbereichs. Tilo Böhmann ist Mitinitiator von ahoi.digital, dem Kooperations- und Wachstumsprogramm für Informatik in der Digitalisierung in Hamburg und des Forschungsschwerpunkts Information Governance Technologies, in dem Wissenschaftler*innen aus Informatik, Rechtswissenschaft und Ethik zusammenarbeiten, um die menschenzentrierten technischen Möglichkeiten für den verantwortlichen Umgang mit Daten und KI in der digitalen Gesellschaft erforschen. Seine Forschungsinteressen gelten dem IT Management, der digitalen Transformation sowie der Gestaltung digitaler, lernender Dienstleistungssysteme (Service Systems Engineering). Er ist Autor zahlreicher internationaler und nationaler Fachpublikationen zu diesen Themen. Tilo Böhmann hat sich an der Technischen Universität München habilitiert, wurde an der Universität Hohenheim (Stuttgart) promoviert und hat einen Masterabschluss der London School of Economics and Political Science.

Tilo Böhmann is co-initiator of ahoi.digital, the cooperation and growth program for computer science in digitization in Hamburg and the research focus Information Governance Technologies, in which scientists from computer science, law and ethics work together to explore the human-centered technical possibilities for the responsible handling of data and AI in the digital society. His research interests include IT management, digital transformation and the design of digital, learning service systems (Service Systems Engineering). He is the author of numerous international and national publications on these topics. JAAI’s mission is “Unlock Human Talent”: JAAI’s AI experts help companies to understand the latest AI technology and integrate it into their business processes. Roland is also managing director of the chatbot startup botario GmbH and the scouting platform SCOUTASTIC. As initiator of BREMEN.AI, the cluster for artificial intelligence in Bremen, he is involved in the advisory board of bremen digitalmedia for the networking of the AI scene in Bremen and in the Northwest of Germany and for a better transfer of AI know-how between science, economy and society.
Seit dem 1. Januar 2016 ist Henrik Falk Mitglied des Vorstandes der Hamburger Hochbahn AG, seit dem 1. Februar 2016 Vorstandsvorsitzender. Herr Falk ist zudem u.a. Mitglied der Nationalen Plattform Zukunft der Mobilität der Bundesregierung, im Policy Board UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics), dem Präsidium des Verbands Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen (VDV) und im Board of Innovators bei SQUARE/Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA). Zuvor führte Henrik Falk vom 01.11.2008 bis 31.12.2015 den Vorstandsbereich Finanzen und Vertrieb der Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). Ab 1999 arbeitete er als Rechtsanwalt mit Schwerpunkt Wirtschaftsrecht in Berlin und wurde 2001 Partner einer Anwaltssozietät. Zum 1. April 2004 wechselte Henrik Falk zur BVG als Chefsyndikus und Leiter des Gremienbereiches. Ab 2007 war er Geschäftsführer der BVG-Beteiligungsholding. Er studierte Rechtswissenschaft an der Freien Universität Berlin. Die betriebswirtschaftliche Ausbildung erfolgte in St. Gallen/Schweiz. Nach einer Tätigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Sozialrecht in München absolvierte er sein Referendariat in Paris und Berlin.
Henrik Falk has been a member of the Management Board of Hamburger Hochbahn AG since 1 January 2016 and Chairman of the Management Board since 1 February 2016. Mr. Falk is also a member of the National Platform Future of Mobility of the Federal Government, the Policy Board UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics), the Presidium of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and the Board of Innovators of SQUARE/Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA). Previously, Henrik Falk headed the Finance and Sales Division of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) from 01.11.2008 to 31.12.2015. From 1999 he worked as a lawyer specialising in commercial law in Berlin and became a partner in a law firm in 2001. On 1 April 2004, Henrik Falk joined BVG as General Counsel and Head of the Board Division. From 2007 he was managing director of BVG-Beteiligungsholding. He studied law at the Free University of Berlin. His business administration training took place in St. Gallen/Switzerland. After working as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Social Law in Munich, he completed his legal clerkship in Paris and Berlin.

Wolfgang Hildesheim leitet den Bereich AI und IBM Watson in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. In dieser Position entwickelte er gemeinsam mit internationalen Teams industriespezifische Big Data Analytics sowie Cognitive Computing-Konzepte und Lösungen für Kunden in ganz Europa. In 1997 begann seine Karriere bei IBM im Bereich Automotive, Aerospace und Hitech Practice. Seit 2012 ist Wolfgang Hildesheim verantwortlich für das Wachstum des IBM Watson Geschäfts in Europa mit Fokus auf den deutschsprachigen Raum.

In this position, he worked with international teams to develop industry-specific big data analytics and cognitive computing concepts and solutions for customers throughout Europe. In 1997, he began his career at IBM in the Automotive, Aerospace and Hitech Practice divisions. Since 2012, Wolfgang Hildesheim has been responsible for the growth of IBM Watson’s business in Europe with a focus on the German-speaking region.
Carlos Jahn, Jahrgang 1966, ist Leiter des Instituts für Maritime Logistik der Technischen Universität Hamburg und in Personalunion Leiter des Fraunhofer-Centers für Maritime Logistik und Dienstleistungen in Hamburg. Seinen beruflichen Werdegang begann Carlos Jahn als Matrose und später als Offizier in der Bundesmarine. Er studierte Maschinenbau an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität in Hamburg und Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Fernuniversität Hagen. Anschließend promovierte er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter des Fraunhofer IFF an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg. Carlos Jahn war in unterschiedlichen Führungs- und Stabsfunktionen in Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft tätig, bevor er 2009 den Ruf zum Professor und Leiter des Instituts für Maritime Logistik der Technischen Universität Hamburg-Harburg annahm. Im Jahr 2010 erfolgte die Gründung des Fraunhofer-Centers für Maritime Logistik und Dienstleistungen.
Carlos Jahn, born in 1966, is head of the Institute for Maritime Logistics at the Technical University of Hamburg and at the same time head of the Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services in Hamburg. Carlos Jahn held various management and staff positions in science and industry before being appointed Professor and Head of the Institute for Maritime Logistics at the Technical University of Hamburg in 2009. The Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services was founded in 2010.

With 25 years of experience in the digital and technology environment, he advises companies on how to successfully invest in start-ups to drive innovation, digital change and growth. As long-time managing director of the holding company Axel Springer Digital, John Lange was jointly responsible for the development of the successful investment portfolio of Axel Springer, one of the pioneers of digital transformation. Previously, he supported the international expansion of the e-commerce software company Intershop, whose IPO he accompanied. He received his doctorate in innovation controlling from Leuphana University in Lüneburg.

Peter Kabel is a serial entrepreneur and professor at HAW Hamburg for Interaction Design. He is the founder of several companies (including Kabel New Media, Trendbüro, AECAL.de) and, as an investor in Indian startups with a focus on natural language processing and as a book author, is intensively involved in the issues surrounding voice AI.

As a technologist, Gerry is passionate about building high-performance teams, Lean DevOps, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, automated everything and super-fast architectures that can account for up to 100 billion transactions per day. Martin Mahn ist Geschäftsführer der Tutech Innovation GmbH und der Hamburg Innovation GmbH. Er kam im Winter 2014 von der Spree an die Elbe, um hier den Wissenstransfer zwischen Hochschulen und Wirtschaft voranzutreiben. Martin Mahn is Managing Director of Tutech Innovation GmbH and Hamburg Innovation GmbH. He came from the Spree to the Elbe in the winter of 2014 to promote the transfer of knowledge between universities and industry. Martin Mahn studied biology and environmental management in Berlin and Jerusalem and is enthusiastic about creative techniques such as design thinking. His previous positions, including Managing Director of Humboldt-Innovation GmbH, various management functions at Osram and as a founder, have given him a wealth of experience. April 2008 ist Jens Meier Geschäftsführer der HPA.
After studying computer science with a supplementary subject in economics, he began his professional career at Software Design & Management AG (Ernst & Young Group), where he was responsible for the Hamburg and Hanover branches as a member of the management board since 1997. Mit Dr. Michael Müller-Wünsch konnte OTTO einen erfahrenen Manager für IT-Change-Prozesse sowie IT-Entwicklungen gewinnen. Zuletzt verantwortete er als Chief Information Officer (CIO) der Lekkerland AG & Co. KG deren Restrukturierung der europäischen IT-Organisation, die Vereinheitlichung der IT-Landschaft sowie die Standardisierung der Geschäfts- und IT-Prozesse. Uwe Jens Neumann ist Co-Founder und Vorstandsvorsitzender von Hamburg@work seit Gründung des Vereins in 1997 und seit 2001 Geschäftsführer der operativen Tochtergesellschaft Hamburg@work GFM mbH. Nach BWL-Studium als Offizier der Bundeswehr und wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeit an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität führten ihn seine beruflichen Stationen über Führungspositionen bei IBM, AT&T, BMW Softlab und VIAG Interkom in die Geschäftsführung der HWF Hamburgische Wirtschaftsförderung. Seit 2016 widmet sich Uwe Jens ganz seinen Aufgaben bei Hamburg@work.
Uwe Jens Neumann is co-founder and chairman of the board of Hamburg@work since the foundation of the association in 1997 and managing director of the operative subsidiary Hamburg@work GFM mbH since 2001. In the team, he is responsible in particular for the strategic orientation and further development of Hamburg@work into a digital cluster in northern Germany. After studying business administration as an officer in the German Armed Forces and working as a research assistant at Helmut Schmidt University, his professional experience led him to management positions at IBM, AT&T, BMW Softlab and VIAG Interkom at HWF Hamburgische Wirtschaftsförderung. Since 2016, Uwe Jens has dedicated himself entirely to his tasks at Hamburg@work.
Uve Samuels studierte von 1989 bis 1993 Prozessautomatisierung an der Fachhochschule Ostfriesland und schloss sein Studium als Diplom-Ingenieur ab. Danach war er vier Jahre lang als Gruppen- und Projektleiter im Institut für Lasertechnik an der Fachhochschule tätig. 1997 Promotion in Mechatronik zum Doctor of Philosophy an der Loughborough University of Technology in England. Ab 1997 war Samuels zwei Jahre lang Leiter des Referats für Berufliche Bildung des Deutschen Industrie- und Handelstags. Fünf Jahre lang war er Geschäftsführer der Handelskammer. Vordem leitete er für zwei Jahre die Koordinierungsstelle Neuordnung der Industriellen Metall- und Elektroberufe des Deutschen Industrie- und Handelskammertages. Seit 2007 ist Samuels Geschäftsführer der HSBA.
Uve Samuels studied process automation at the University of Applied Sciences Ostfriesland from 1989 to 1993 and graduated as an engineer. He then worked for four years as a group and project manager at the Institute for Laser Technology at the University of Applied Sciences. In 1997 he received the Doctor of Philosophy in Mechatronics from Loughborough University of Technology, England. From 1997, Samuels was head of the Vocational Training Department of the German Association of Industry and Commerce for two years. For five years he was Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that, he was head of the Coordination Office for the Reorganization of Industrial Metal and Electrical Professions of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce for two years. Samuels has been Managing Director of HSBA since 2007.
Seit Januar 2009 ist Sebastian Saxe Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der HPA. Vor seiner Doppelrolle als CDO verantwortete er u.a. als CIO den Ausbau und die Weiterentwicklung der IT-Landschaft der HPA und als Bereichsleiter Services mit den Facheinheiten Einkauf, Personal, Interne Dienste, operative IT und Recht sowie den Stabsbereichen Geschäftsprozesse, IT-Architektur und IT-Innovation, Datenschutz und -sicherheit, Intermodales Verkehrsmanagement, Gesundheitsmanagement, Wissensmanagement und Arbeitsschutz, hat Sebastian Saxe u.a, die 20 Innovationen im Themensegment „Transport und Logistik“ für die IAPH-Konferenz 2015 gemanagt und danach die weltweit beachteten smartPORT-/chainPORT-Programme der HPA gegründet. Im November 2015 wurde er als „CIO des Jahres“ der Kategorie Mittelstand in Deutschland ausgezeichnet. Vor der HPA hat der promovierte Mathematiker als Technik-Vorstand von Dataport, als Leiter des Landesamts für Informationstechnik in Hamburg, als Abteilungsleiter (CIO der Stadt) bei der Finanzbehörde usw. ein sehr breites Spektrum an Führungsfunktionen in der Verwaltung bekleidet und dabei wesentlich mit einem gesamtstädtischen Blick die technikgetriebene Zukunft der Stadt Hamburg und den dazugehörigen Transformationsprozess innovativ und steuernd gestaltet. Sein momentanes Motto „ Aus Visionen Realität machen – denn Digitalisierung in der Öffentlichen Hand schwerer geht nicht … und AI ist hier eine Schlüsseltechnologie mit riesigen Chancen aber auch Risiken im ECOsytem Verwaltung, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft.“
Sebastian Saxe has been a member of the HPA Executive Board since January 2009. Before his dual role as CDO he was responsible for the expansion and further development of the IT landscape of the HPA as CIO and as Head of Services with the specialist units Purchasing, Human Resources, Internal Services, Operational IT and Legal as well as the staff departments Business Processes, IT Architecture and IT Innovation, Data Protection and Security, Intermodal Traffic Management, Health Management, Knowledge Management and Occupational Safety.a, who managed the 20 innovations in the “Transport and Logistics” theme segment for the IAPH Conference 2015 and then founded the HPA’s smartPORT-/chainPORT programmes, which are highly regarded worldwide. In November 2015, he was named “CIO of the Year” in the category medium-sized businesses in Germany. Prior to the HPA, the mathematician with a doctorate in technology was Dataport’s Chief Technology Officer, Head of the State Office for Information Technology in Hamburg, Head of Department (CIO of the City of Hamburg) at the Tax Authorities, etc., where he held a very broad spectrum of management functions in administration, and in doing so, he was instrumental in shaping the technology-driven future of the City of Hamburg and the associated transformation process in an innovative and controlling way with an overall view of the city. His current motto is “Turning visions into reality – because digitisation in the public sector is not more difficult … and AI is a key technology here with huge opportunities but also risks in ECOsytem administration, business and science”.

Zuvor arbeitete er als Geschäftsführer bei der ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg und dem Expo-Center Airport Berlin. Strittmatter studierte Volkswirtschaftlehre und promovierte 2002 zum Dr. rer. nat. in Geographie.
Rolf Strittmatter is Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburg Marketing GmbH and Managing Director of Hamburg Invest und Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH. Andreas Timm-Giel ist seit September 2020 Präsident der TUHH. Seit 2009 ist er Leiter des Instituts für Kommunikationsnetze und seit 2014 Vizepräsident für Forschung und CIO an der Technischen Universität Hamburg. Er promovierte 1999 in der Hochfrequenztechnik und war von 2000-2002 in einem Startup für Satellitenkommunikation tätig. Danach wechselte er zurück an die Universität Bremen, wo er in den Kommunikationsnetzen in verantwortlichen Positionen u.a. im TZI, forschte. An der TUHH sind Mobil- und Fahrzeugkommunikation, das Internet der Dinge und zukünftige Netzarchitekturen seine Forschungsschwerpunkte. Als Vizepräsident der TUHH gestaltet er den Wachstumsprozess der TUHH aktiv mit, wobei die Interdisziplinarität und die Digitalisierung in den Ingenieurswissenschaften zentrale Themen sind; das betrifft sowohl die Forschungsinhalte, die Forschungsmethoden und –tools als auch die Lehre zur Ausbildung verantwortlicher Ingenieure.
Andreas Timm-Giel is since September 2020, the President of the TUHH. Andreas Timm-Giel has been Head of the Institute for Communication Networks at the TUHH since 2009 and Vice President for Research and CIO since 2014. He received his doctorate in radio frequency technology in 1999 and worked in a satellite communications start-up from 2000-2002. He then moved back to the University of Bremen, where he researched in important positions in the communication networks, among others at the TZI. At the TUHH his research focuses on mobile and vehicle communication, the Internet of Things and future network architectures. As Vice President of the TUHH he actively contributes to the growth process of the TUHH, whereby interdisciplinary and digitization in the engineering sciences are central topics; this concerns research contents, research methods and tools as well as the training of responsible engineers.
Volkmar Uhlig ist Gründer und CTO von Ghost Locomotion (Mountain View, CA, USA) die ein autonomes Fahrsystem für Autobahnen entwickelt. Vorher war er Gründer und CTO von Adello, einem AI-basierten Ad-Tech DSP und Softwarearchitekt in einer High-Frequency Trading Firma. Ein von Volkmar entwickeltes Betriebssystem ist auf über 3 Milliarden mobilen Telefonen im Einsatz inklusive iPhone und vielen Android Geräten.
Volkmar Uhlig is founder and CTO of Ghost Locomotion (Mountain View, CA, USA) which develops an autonomous driving system for motorways. Previously, he was founder and CTO of Adello, an AI-based Ad-Tech DSP and software architect in a high-frequency trading company. An operating system developed by Volkmar is in use on over 3 billion mobile phones including iPhone and many Android devices.
Henning Vöpel ist seit 2014 Direktor des Hamburgischen WeltWirtschaftsInstitut (HWWI). Im Jahr 2010 wurde Vöpel als Professor für Volkswirtschaftslehre an die HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration berufen. Seine Forschungs- und Themenschwerpunkte sind Konjunkturanalyse, Geld- und Währungspolitik, Finanzmärkte und Digitalökonomie. Nach seinem Studium der Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Hamburg promovierte Prof. Vöpel 2004 mit einer Arbeit über die „Stabilisierungswirkungen der Geldpolitik“. Im Jahr 2009 verbrachte er auf Einladung des US Department of State im Rahmen des International Leadership Program einen Forschungsaufenthalt unter anderem in Washington D.C., San Francisco und Boston. Sein Modell der Diagonalisierung der Wirtschaft bildet den wissenschaftlichen Kern der Arbeit von Hamburg@work.
Henning Vöpel has been Director of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) since 2014. In 2010, Vöpel was appointed Professor of Economics at the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration. His research and topics are business cycle analysis, monetary policy, financial markets and digital economics. After studying economics at the University of Hamburg, Prof. Vöpel received his doctorate in 2004 with a thesis on the “Stabilization Effects of Monetary Policy”. In 2009, at the invitation of the US Department of State, he spent a research stay in Washington D.C., San Francisco and Boston as part of the International Leadership Program. His model of the diagonalization of the economy forms the scientific core of Hamburg@work’s work.

Prof. Dr. Eicke Weber ist Vizepräsident der International Solar Energy Society ISES, sowie vorläufiger Präsident des European Solar Manufacturer Councils ESMC in Gründung. 2017/18 war er Direktor/CEO der Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS). Von 2006 bis 2017 leitete er das Fraunhofer-Instituts für Solare Energiesysteme ISE in Freiburg, und war Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Physik / Solarenergie an der Fakultät für Mathematik und Physik sowie an der Technischen Fakultät der dortigen Albert-Ludwigs-Universität. Prof. Weber beschäftigt sich als Materialforscher vorwiegend mit Defekten in Silicium und Verbund-Halbleitern wie GaAs, SiC und GaN, besonders als Material für Solarzellen. Das 1976 mit der Promotion in Köln abgeschlossene Physik-Studium setzte er mit Forschungsaufenthalten in den USA und Schweden fort, wonach er sich 1983 an seiner Heimatuniversität habilitierte. Im selben Jahr nahm er einen Ruf an das Department of Materials Science and Engineering der University of California, Berkeley, an, wo er 2004 zum Chair der interdisziplinären Nanoscale Science and Engineering Graduate Group ernannt wurde. Während seiner Zeit in Berkeley verbrachte er auch je ein Forschungssemester als ’visiting professor’ an der Tohoku University in Sendai, sowie der Kyoto University in Japan. Die Electrochemical Society ECS, San Francisco zeichnete Prof. Weber im Juni 2009 mit dem Electronics and Photonics Division Award aus. Im Oktober 2009 wurde er zum Ehrenmitglied des Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg gewählt. Prof. Weber wurde 2006 das Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande verliehen, Seit April 2010 ist er Mitglied von acatech–der Deutschen Akademie der Technikwissenschaften, Berlin. Im Juni 2013 wurde Prof. Weber mit dem Einstein Award der Solarworld ausgezeichnet. Im Januar 2014 nahm er in Abu Dhabi für sein Institut den hochdotierten Zayed Future Energy Prize aus den Händen des Kronprinzen der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate entgegen. Im September 2015 wurde er von der Friedrich Naumann Stiftung mit dem Walter-Scheel Preis ausgezeichnet. Im Juni 2016 wurde ihm der Rudolf Jäckel Preis der Deutschen Vakuumgesellschaft DVG verliehen. Prof. Weber ist Mitglied von Aufsichtsräten und beratenden Gremien von Firmen und Regierungen auf dem Feld der erneuerbaren Energien und der Transformation unseres Energiesystems in Richtung 100% Erneuerbarer Energien.
Prof. Dr. Eicke Weber is Vice President of the International Solar Energy Society ISES and provisional President of the European Solar Manufacturer Councils ESMC. In 2017/18 he was Director/CEO of the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS). From 2006 to 2017 he headed the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, and held the Chair of Physics / Solar Energy at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Freiburg. As a materials researcher, Prof. Weber mainly deals with defects in silicon and compound semiconductors such as GaAs, SiC and GaN, especially as a material for solar cells. He continued his physics studies, which he completed with a doctorate in Cologne in 1976, with research stays in the USA and Sweden, after which he habilitated at his home university in 1983. In the same year, he accepted an appointment to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was appointed Chair of the interdisciplinary Nanoscale Science and Engineering Graduate Group in 2004. During his time at Berkeley, he also spent one research semester each as a visiting professor at Tohoku University in Sendai and Kyoto University in Japan. Prof. Weber was founding president of the Berkeley Chapter of the Alexander von Humboldt Association of America (AvHAA) and president of the AvHAA from 2001-2003. He has been founding president of the German Scholars Organization (GSO) since 2003. In July 2008 he was appointed Director of the SEMI International Board of Directors, to which he belonged until 2014. From 2012-2016 he was Managing Director of the Center for Renewable Energies at the University of Freiburg. From 2013 to 2016, he was founding president of the Bundesverband Energiespeicher (BVES), Berlin, and subsequently honorary president of BVES. From 2015 to 2017 he was President of the European Association of Renewable Energy Research Centers EUREC. In 1994 Prof. Weber was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize. In 2002 he was appointed Fellow of the American Physical Society. The Electrochemical Society ECS, San Francisco awarded Prof. Weber the Electronics and Photonics Division Award in June 2009. In October 2009 he was elected honorary member of the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg. Prof. Weber was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande in 2006 and has been a member of acatech-der Deutschen Akademie der Technikwissenschaften, Berlin, since April 2010. In June 2013 Prof. Weber was awarded the Einstein Award of Solarworld. In January 2014, he accepted the highly endowed Zayed Future Energy Prize from the hands of the Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi on behalf of his institute. In September 2015 he was awarded the Walter Scheel Prize by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. In June 2016 he was awarded the Rudolf Jäckel Prize of the German Vacuum Society DVG. Prof. Weber is a member of supervisory boards and advisory bodies of companies and governments in the field of renewable energies and the transformation of our energy system towards 100% renewable energies.
Gesa Ziemer (Prof. Dr. phil.) ist Professorin für Kulturtheorie und Kulturpraxis und Vizepräsidentin für Forschung an der HafenCity Universität Hamburg. Sie leitet das CityScienceLab, eine Kooperation mit dem MIT Media Lab (Cambridge, MA, USA), das sich mit der Zukunft der Städte beschäftigt (mit Schwerpunkt Digitalisierung). Derzeit baut sie das United Nations Technology Lab Germany (UNTIL) auf. Sie ist Stipendiatin der Humboldt Foundation (Feodor-Lynen-Programm) an der Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, MA, USA. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind: die digitale Stadt, neue Formen der Zusammenarbeit, urbanes öffentliches Leben und künstlerische Forschung. Sie ist Gastdozentin an der Hochschule für Kunst und Design Luzern in der Schweiz.
Gesa Ziemer (Prof. Dr. phil.) is Professor of Cultural Theory and Cultural Practice and Vice President for Research at HafenCity University Hamburg. She heads the CityScienceLab, a cooperation with the MIT Media Lab (Cambridge, MA, USA), which deals with the future of cities (with a focus on digitization). She is currently setting up the United Nations Technology Lab Germany (UNTIL). She is a fellow of the Humboldt Foundation (Feodor Lynen Program) at the Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, MA, USA. Her research focuses on the digital city, new forms of collaboration, urban public life and artistic research. She is a guest lecturer at the Lucerne School of Art and Design in Switzerland.
Andreas Moring ist Professor für Digital Management an der International School of Management ISM in Hamburg. Seine Schwerpunkte sind Digitale Geschäftsmodelle, Innovationsmanagement und – natürlich – Künstliche Intelligenz.
Andreas Moring ist seit rund zwei Jahrzehnten in digitalen Medien zu Hause. Er arbeitete u.a. bei Axel Springer (Bild Zeitung, der Welt und dem Hamburger Abendblatt) und entwickelte für verschiedene Medien digitale Services, Produkte und Business Development Strategien. Seine Arbeiten und Entwicklungen wurden mit verschiedenen Preisen und Awards ausgezeichnet.
Seit 2010 ist Andreas Moring als Unternehmer in der Softwareentwicklung und im Digital Publishing aktiv. Er hat mehrere Bücher und Studien zu den Themen Digitalisierung von Geschäftsmodellen, Innovation, Change und Technologie veröffentlicht. Seit 2014 ist Andreas Moring zusätzlich Professor für Innovation und Digital Business und lehrt und forscht an der International School of Management ISM in Hamburg. Aktuell entwickelt der KI Experte mit einem Team ein neues Medienformat, das unter anderem auch Artificial Storytelling nutzt.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Moring heads the Hamburg campus of the ISM International School of Management. He is Professor of Digital Economy and Innovation with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. His scientific and practical work focuses on the question of how productive and creative cooperation between man and machine must look like in the AI age and how companies must adapt their organization, processes and hierarchies to this end. In the past years, he has advised and supported many companies from various industries in the digital transformation of their business models and has also supported them in projects. In recent years, the focus has been particularly on the real estate industry, previously the financial sector and marketing and media. In 2010 and 2012 Andreas Moring and his partners founded two companies in the IT sector. Before that he worked as a consultant for digitization in Europe and at Axel Springer SE. Andreas Moring studied economics, business administration and history in Hamburg and has lived and worked in Argentina, Norway and Hungary.
Dr. Achim Tappe ist Chief Digital Officer bei der Fehrmann GmbH in Hamburg. Er ist ein Digital Leader mit internationaler Erfahrung in digitaler Transformation und Industrie 4.0. Seine Mission ist die Entwicklung digitaler Strategien und deren Umsetzung durch datengetriebenen Produkte & Services, um damit wirtschaftlichen Mehrwert und Kundennutzen zu erzielen.
Herr Dr. Tappe erhielt sein Diplom in Chemie von der Technischen Universität Clausthal, und seinen Doktortitel in Raumfahrtwissenschaften von der Chalmers University of Technology in Schweden. Er verbrachte 10 Jahre in den USA als Forscher in der Astrophysik für das NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, und Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, sowie als selbstständiger Data Science Berater.
Dr. Tappe kehrte 2014 mit seiner Familie nach Deutschland zurück, um Start-Ups und Großunternehmen bei der Realisierung der digitalen Transformation, insbesondere durch den Aufbau von Data Science Teams und die Umsetzung von digitalen Leuchtturmprojekten, zu unterstützen. Derzeit geht er die Herausforderungen des digitalen Wandels mit KI und datengetriebenen Geschäftsmodellen an.
Dr. Achim Tappe is Chief Digital Officer at Fehrmann in Hamburg. He is a digital leader with international experience in digital transformation and Industry 4.0. His mission is the development of digital strategies and their implementation through data-driven products & services in order to achieve business value and customer benefit.
Dr. Tappe received his diploma in chemistry from Clausthal University of Technology, and his doctorate in space science from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. He spent 10 years in the United States as a researcher in astrophysics for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, and Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and as a freelance data science consultant.
Dr. Tappe returned to Germany with his family in 2014 to support start-ups and large companies in realizing the digital transformation, in particular by setting up data science teams and implementing digital lighthouse projects. He is currently tackling the challenges of digital change with AI and data-driven business models.
Steffen Maas ist Gründer und Geschäftsführer von Ginkgo Analytics, einem auf Data Science spezialisierten Spin-Off einer Managementberatung. Die Mission von Ginkgo Analytics ist es, Unternehmen in datengetriebene und KI-gestützte Unternehmen zu transformieren. Die KI-Experten von Ginkgo Analytics setzen Prototypen und produktive Lösungen auf Basis von Open Source und kommerziellen Lösungen um, und beraten und schulen Unternehmen in der Anwendung von KI. Als Mitglied des KI Bundesverbands, Hamburg@Work und als Keynote Speaker und Mentor gibt Steffen sein Wissen über KI gern an Unternehmen, Wissenschaft und die Gesellschaft weiter.
Steffen Maas is the founder and managing director of Ginkgo Analytics, a spin-off of a management consultancy specializing in data science. Ginkgo Analytics’ mission is to transform companies into data-driven and AI-powered companies. The AI experts at Ginkgo Analytics implement prototypes and productive solutions based on open source and commercial solutions, and advise and train companies in the use of AI. As a member of the KI Bundesverband, Hamburg@Work and as a keynote speaker and mentor, Steffen is happy to pass on his knowledge of AI to companies, science and society.
Dr. Vanessa Just arbeitet als Geschäftsführerin der wtsAI an der Weiterentwicklung von Anwendungsszenarien für KI im Steuerbereich. Des Weiteren ist sie an der Dualen Hochschule für die Fächer Controlling und Unternehmensführung und als aktives Mitglied im KI Bundesverband tätig. Ihr akademischer Hintergrund liegt im Wirtschaftsingenieurswesen – Maschinenbau, promoviert hat sie zur Automatisierung und Digitalisierung von Geschäftsprozessen. Ihr persönliches Forschungsinteresse gilt den Themen der Nachhaltigkeit und technologischen Entwicklungen.
Dr. Vanessa Just works as managing director of wtsAI on the further development of application scenarios for AI in the tax area. Furthermore, she works at the Cooperative State University for controlling and corporate management and as an active member of the KI Federal Association. Her academic background is in industrial engineering – mechanical engineering, she received her doctorate for the automation and digitization of business processes. Her personal research interest is in the areas of sustainability and technological developments.
