With energy costs rising excessively, climate-friendly energy supply solutions are key to become less dependent on fossil fuels and the decarbonization of our energy systems. But how rapidly is our production of renewable energy changing? Between hydro- solar and wind power – what technologies look most promising in transforming our energy mix? Why is the application of artificial intelligence so crucial for renewable energy? How do Germany and the US contribute to making renewable energy more accessible?

President Biden and Chancellor Merkel launched the U.S.-Germany Climate and Energy Partnership in summer 2021. In this Transatlantic Innovation Week talk Darion Akins, US Consul General in Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Eicke Weber, founder of InnoScience and renewable energy expert will discuss the threat of climate change, and how this U.S.-Germany Climate and Energy Partnership will strengthen climate ambition and deepen our collaboration on the policies and sustainable technologies, such as renewable energy, needed to accelerate the global net-zero future. Alois Kritl from Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC) will point out which solutions using artificial intelligence could help to reach this goal.
